Guys I am so sorry!

I have been such a bad blogger!

I started my own etsy shop and started making my own belly dance props. Here are a few pictures of my trays. I plan on making more stuff, but I don’t know what people want. I’ll take any suggestions you have!

Here is the link to the shop- please check it out and tell me what you would be interested in seeing!

Thank you all for still coming!

Mable lamp renovation

I got this kicking lamp from the thrift store. I bought it, dragged my prey home…. And discovered it didn’t work.

image

I edited this image to show my disappointment.

But, never deterred, I decided I would rewire this lamp. I started off by taking it apart to see how it works. Now, please don’t do this while its plugged in!!!!!

image

Now, I’m normally a “DIY till you die” kind of person, but this is a DIY you can die from. I did this with an electrician friend. He said there are great lamp kits online (which run around $10.00). I will not be giving step by step directions, because I do not want to give dangerous or incorrect information.

One re-wiring later…

I decided it was time to spray paint the metal bits turquoise. While doing that, it seemed like I might as well repaint the lampshade. I decided on silver.

And its all done! I am thinking about buying a different shade for the lamp, but I like it for now. What do you think??

Chanel knock off

I have been looking for a great new sweater, but my local thrift store haunts just weren’t giving me anything good. But while sourcing pieces for my pearl belly dance belt I found this great necklace. I pulled out this boring sweater-

image

Then I laid out my pattern for the necklace (soon to be Chanel inspired chain)

image

Then I got to sewing once I measured out how much of the necklace I would need. I ended up having a few inches of the necklace I had to cut off.

image

Sewing, sewing, sewing….

image

Half an hour later I was done!!

image

And feeling so fancy!!

Even with little sewing skills, I bet anyone could do that. I’d love to see your versions of this classic and easy project!

My version of a selfie.

Valentines day! Crafts ahoy!

I made this lovely costume for a Valentines day gig. I’m not a hearts and balloons kind of girl, but I won’t turn down rhinestones as a Valentines day gift!;)

Bedroom tours

image

I feel like I have been neglecting this blog. I might be making crafts, but I have been feeling so uninspired. I was thinking about it and I realized it is because I have been putting so much effort into my apartment. So, here is a mini-tour of my new place. In a few weeks (when I finish it) I’ll show off my dressing room.

DIY shaving cream

I wish I could say this was hard to do, but it isn’t. My skin is so soft after using this and it was so easy!

Ingredients:
2\3 cup coconut oil
2\3 cup shea butter
1\4 olive oil
15 drops essential oil (I used a fresh linen scent)

Now we get to the hard part…

1. Measure your ingredients.

image

2. Put everything in a pot and heat it up until it all melts together.

image

image

3. Let it cool and whip it with a egg beater.

image

4. Put it on your skin and use it to shave.

Pearl bra!

I started making my dream pearl costume. When I start making a new costume, I don’t sketch, but I did for this one. I’m so sorry! I can barely draw.

image

I’m still in the process of making the belt, but when I am done, I am going to make a blog for the belt.

First I used some leather to cover my bra base.

image

I cut a dart into the leather and used some industrial glue to put it on the base. Please do this in a well ventilated area so you don’t get as high as I did.

image

Then I glued on a swags of pearl trim. (Side note, I bought several dozen packages of this pearl trim from an after Christmas clearance sale. Such a good deal!!! That’s the only way this costume was remotely affordable)

image

I made a sassy center piece and its was done! The belt is going to be a ton of extra work.

image

image

I have already veered off my original sketch. Whoops!!

Floppy, floppy purple hat

I love hats. I just picked up this hat at the thrift store, but it really needed a refresh.

image

It is a bit boring and I knew I could do so much better.

I started off by laying out some flowers I found in my craft room, then once I found something I liked I hot glued it on.

image

After that was done, I stuck in a hat pin. Quick and done! I love easy crafts!

Rhinestone scraps= a new headdress!!

I found some rhinestone scraps and with my trusty hot glue gun, I made a new headdress. There is always room for more headdresses!!

Rhinestones for life!!

Air dry clay bowls

I wish I had a kiln. I love the look of pottery. But its hard to have that in an apartment.

Then I found air dry clay. All the fun of pottery without the commitment of a kiln.

First I placed a ball of clay between two pieces of plastic wrap.

image

Then I rolled it out with a rolling pin

image

And I cut it with a bowl

image

Take off the excess.

Place a piece of lace on the edge and roll of rolling pin over it.

image

Then lay that on top of a bowl covered in plastic wrap

image

image

Let that dry and you are done!!
