You can check out the rest at my shop!
I have been such a bad blogger!
I started my own etsy shop and started making my own belly dance props. Here are a few pictures of my trays. I plan on making more stuff, but I don’t know what people want. I’ll take any suggestions you have!
Here is the link to the shop- please check it out and tell me what you would be interested in seeing!
Thank you all for still coming!
I got this kicking lamp from the thrift store. I bought it, dragged my prey home…. And discovered it didn’t work.
I edited this image to show my disappointment.
But, never deterred, I decided I would rewire this lamp. I started off by taking it apart to see how it works. Now, please don’t do this while its plugged in!!!!!
Now, I’m normally a “DIY till you die” kind of person, but this is a DIY you can die from. I did this with an electrician friend. He said there are great lamp kits online (which run around $10.00). I will not be giving step by step directions, because I do not want to give dangerous or incorrect information.
One re-wiring later…
I decided it was time to spray paint the metal bits turquoise. While doing that, it seemed like I might as well repaint the lampshade. I decided on silver.
And its all done! I am thinking about buying a different shade for the lamp, but I like it for now. What do you think??
I hate being cold. I am so excited for summer. Last year, I got these cat shorts and I love them. But they were always a bit too tight and I didn’t wear them as often as they deserved. So I took my precious shorts and an old elastic belt and made them fit.
My precious cat shorts. I began by cutting along the side seams. I cut the elastic belt’s buckle off and measured a length of elastic the same as the side seam.
Then I pinned it together and sewed it together.
20 minutes of work and I have shorts that I plan on wearing all the time this summer!!
The pearl bra is done, and now I can rest…. Nope!!!
I began the belt a few days later. I used my original sketch as a model. I started off by cutting small circles out of leather
After doing that, I glued it to a strip of vinyl I had sitting around. I started gluing on some findings onto the circle.
Then I started gluing on the last of my pearl into big swags of fringe.
I added some findings to attach the front and back of the belt. I lined it with some foam (I had no desire to sew through this leather – honestly it destroy the leather.
And its all done!!!!
I have been looking for a great new sweater, but my local thrift store haunts just weren’t giving me anything good. But while sourcing pieces for my pearl belly dance belt I found this great necklace. I pulled out this boring sweater-
Then I laid out my pattern for the necklace (soon to be Chanel inspired chain)
Then I got to sewing once I measured out how much of the necklace I would need. I ended up having a few inches of the necklace I had to cut off.
Sewing, sewing, sewing….
Half an hour later I was done!!
And feeling so fancy!!
Even with little sewing skills, I bet anyone could do that. I’d love to see your versions of this classic and easy project!
My version of a selfie.
